CAT International Ltd was initially founded to commercialise the ideas and development of the R&D company, Carbon Application Technology Ltd., primarily in the area of metal filtration resulting in the development and production of the CERACAT+ range of filters for Steel and Iron.
Ceracat+CERACAT+ foam foundry filters are produced from high temperature Ceramic plus an addition of Carbon which increases Thermal Shock, temperature and chemical resistance to the liquid metal. They are recommended as a highly cost effective replacement for Zirconia and Carbon bonded foundry filters in many Steel and Iron applications.
CERACAT+ foundry filters when correctly designed into a gating system help to remove inclusions from the metal stream and reduce turbulence preventing the risk of erosion and re-oxidation, thus reducing surface and subsurface defects on castings reducing finishing costs and in many applications increasing casting yield and mechanical properties of the metal.

Ceracat+ filters remove inclusions from the metal stream and reduce turbulence much reducing the occurrence of erosion and dross related inclusions.
They have much higher strength and creep resistance compared to conventional Grey Silicon carbide filters but without the cost of Zirconia based filters.
Excellent for longer pour duration applications and are ideal for placement in joint line distribution runners or filter ‘pods’ to be included in ceramic gating systems
